Automark issue in Bluebeam

When I try to use the automatic page label feature on some PDF’s it reads the selected page region multiple times. (i.e. Instead of “A2.1” it will read it as “A2.1 A2.1 A2.1 A2.1…”) It will do this for any text on the page. 

The solution for me was to change a setting in the bluebeam printer advanced. merge lines checkbox.

How to – Add a background image in a stereo panorama rendering

A stereo panorama rendering created using A360 rendering can be downloaded as a zip file.

Once you download the zip files and unzip it, you will see the following contents in it:

image.png – The main high resolution image

image.jpg – A lower resolution image for preview

imageL.jpg and imageR.jpg – The left eye and right eye

imagespano.html – The html file

twgl-dist.js – Javscript file

readme.txt  –

Here are the steps to adding your own custom background
  • Open image.png in an image editing software such as Photoshop
  • Since this is a png file, it has an alpha mask and you can composite your custom background.
  • Once editing is done, save this as a separate file or you could overwrite the original. But the final file has to be named image.png 
  • Now you have to generate the left and right eye images and the preview image
    • Crop the top-half of the image and Save As imageL.jpg
    • Crop the bottom-half and Save As imageR.jpg
    • For the preview image, Save imageL.jpg as image.jpg. Reduce the size of this image to 1/8 of the original size. For eg: 9216×1536 will become 768×128 pixels.
  • All your images are now ready. If you want to preview how it looks on your computer, open Firefox browser (Chrome does not let you open local files) and drag pano.html to it. You should see a pixelated preview for a brief moment. After it clears up, you will see the new panorama with your composited background image. Example of the link: file:///C:/Users/xyz/Desktop/stereo_pano/pano.html. You should do this to check if your composite looks fine and if there are any edits required.
  • In order to view it in the browser on your mobile device (this is what you really want), all the files in the zip file have to be hosted to your website. They cannot be uploaded back to Autodesk’s site, which happens when we generate a URL for your rendered stereo panoramas

When You Can’t See an Element in Revit

Top 10 Reasons You Can’t See an Element in Revit

  1. Is the element correct Workset being used?
  2. Is the view range set correctly to see the particular element?
  3. Is the object hosted on an incorrect surface like a floor instead of a ceiling?
  4. Is there a filter applied to the view that is causing the element to be hidden?
  5. Is the detail level of the view set correctly?  Some families are set not to show at Coarse.
  6. Try using the “Reveal Hidden Elements” tool in the view control bar.
  7. Is there a plan region in the view?
  8. Is the view “Discipline” set correctly?
  9. Is the element in the correct phase and is an appropriate phase filter set in the view to make it visible.
  10. Is the element part of a design option and perhaps that isn’t the current option for that particular view?


Check to see if:
1. The object or category is temporarily hidden
2. The object or category is hidden in the view
3. The object is being obscured by another element
4. The object’s category or subcategory is hidden in the view
5. The object is outside the view’s view range
6. The view’s far clip depth is not sufficient to show the object
7. The object resides on a workset that is not loaded within the project
8. The object resides on a workset that is not visible in the view
9. The object resides on a workset that is not loaded in a linked file
10. The object resides on a workset that is not visible in a linked file
11. The object resides within a group (detail model) and it has been excluded from the group
12. The object is part of a design option that is not visible in the view
13. The object is part of a linked file that is not visible in the view
14. The object has one or more of its edges overridden to display as ‘<Invisible lines>’
15. The object is a family and none of its geometry is set to be visible in the view type
16. The object is a family and none of its geometry is set to be visible at the view’s detail level
17. The object is set to not be visible at the category’s detail level
18. The element has been placed outside the view’s crop region (visible extents)
19. The element is an annotation object and does not reside entirely within the annotation crop region
20. The object’s phase settings or the view’s phase settings prevent the object from displaying in the view
21. The view’s discipline is prohibiting the visibility of the object
22. The object is affected by a filter applied to the view
23. The object is subject to an element override, set to background color
24. The object is subject to a category override, set to background color
25. The object style is set to background color
26. The object is constrained to a scope boxes that is not visible in the view
27. The extents of the object itself don’t permit it to be seen
28. The object is a mass, and ‘Show Mass’ is turned off
29. The object’s host view has been deleted (area boundaries)
30. The view’s scale is prohibiting the object’s visibility
31. The object is a linked instance with coordinates too great for Revit to handle
32. The user has incorrectly identified the link instance to which the element belongs
33. The object is in a link that is not in its correct position

34. Something is really far away from the middle of the project and when the view is zoomed to fit, everything disappears

Convert all Grids to 2D

To accomplish this the 2D extents of the grid lines need to move, not the 3D extents, because if the 3D extents are moved then the grid lines disappear in the plan views.

There isn’t any need to click on each grid and hit the 3D grip to convert it to 2D.

Enable the crop region, move the crop region so that it crosses over the grid lines.  This will automatically convert the grid extents to 2D.

Then drag the view specific grip (solid dot) on one of the grids, and all of them will move.  Then propagate extents to the other views.  If they need to go back to 3D then Right Click on each grid and select “Reset to 3D Extents”.

This is also true for Levels.

You can also set the grid to maintain a set length in its type properties/grid lines in section/elevation.

Select the disassociated grid and Right Click there is an option to “Reset to Crop”. This will allow it to move with the crop region as normal.

CAD detail are obviously good for CAD work flows but not for BIM projects as a whole. Basically CAD details are lines, arcs , circles & text (all dumb objects and merely belief based) …we (read as I) need to revisit the whole concept of detailing in Revit in the hopes of shedding more light on how it may be best to work WITH BIM, rather than against the river that it is.
